When I scroll through my Instagram feed, I want it to be a source of joy, a source of inspiration, a source of things-I-really-don’t-need-but-will-buy-anyway.
I know social media doesn’t always get the best reputation, especially Instagram, where a lot of us try, but do not succeed at comparing ourselves to others, but hear me out. It’s okay to only follow accounts whose content you genuinely enjoy. You are in control of the content you expose yourself to every time you open that app.
Just because you went to high school with Karen and she was nice to you that one time at lunch, doesn’t mean you should feel bad for wanting to unfollow her, because if you see one more photo of her on a tropical vacation while you are stuck in an office, so help you god!
Although I definitely Marie Kondo the accounts I follow on the daily, there’s a few that I just can’t imagine myself ever leaving behind. I don’t know what you’re expecting from this list of Instagram accounts, but I don’t think you’ll regret giving them your follow.
Let us all cleanse our feeds and only follow those accounts that don’t make us feel like at the old age of 22, we are not doing enough with out lives.
I love a good pun as much as I love a good Instagram account, and this happens to be both! If you want more photos of cute old people in your life, this one’s for you.
This is not a clickbait username. It is, in fact, an account dedicated to photos of hands… of people on the subway. I can’t really explain why this is one of my favorite Instagram accounts, but I get an overwhelming sense of euphoria looking at these photos. They are pure art and you can’t convince me otherwise.
A two-in-one, if you will! Not only does this account curate the cutest photos ever, but by doing so, it gives you even more cute accounts to follow!!!
This man does Instagram very well, and I promise this statement is not swayed by any bias my love for him might have. His Instagram show, Current Mood is my shit, and I still regret not purchasing a hoodie, repping the show, from his merch booth.
EVERYTHING SHE TYPES IS IN CAPS AND I LOVE IT. HER OOTD’S PUT ALL OF MINE TO SHAME AND I JUST WANT TO BE DIANE KEATON WHEN I GROW UP!
I could truly watch Brit try on her clothes and twirl around to french music all day long. I have no words to describer her Instagram, you just have to experience it yourself. Also, bonus story, for my First Holy Communion, my DJ asked me what songs I wanted him to play, and my one non-negotiable request was that he MUST play ‘…Baby One More Time’. Amen.
If we’re being honest, I follow the overheard accounts for numerous cities and locations, because they are SO good. But being that New York is my second home, this one’s special to me. I also can’t believe that none of the dumb shit that comes out of my mouth has made it’s way on here yet.
If you’re not a New York native, then I must warn you, the New York subways are a culture shock all their own. You never really know what to expect on the subway, but you’re also never really shocked by anything either.
The 2000s is one of my favorite eras, and this account provides me with the quality content I need and deserve.
Daniel Arnold is one of my favorite photographers, and I highly recommend you check him out. I once heard him described as the paparazzi of the people, and I couldn’t think of a better title. I feel like he really understands my love of people watching.
I think this is the only meme account I follow, and for good reason. Pop culture is ridiculous, and sainthoax knows exactly how to deal with it.
So, did you follow anyone new today? Let me know if you want me to do more of these in more specific categories (fave fashion, fitness, brands, etc.)
And follow my Instagram because it is also good, thanks, xoxo.
Christine
This is a great list! I love the overheard accounts. So funny
